Philip Martineau

Philip Hubert Martineau (28 October 1862–7 October 1944) was an English cricketer.〔(Cricinfo profile )〕 A left-arm fast-medium bowler, he played first-class cricket for the MCC in 1883.〔(CricketArchive profile )〕

Born in London in 1862,〔 Philip Martineau was educated at Harrow School and played for the cricket team there in 1880 and 1881.〔Wisden Cricketers' Almanack 1945, (Obituaries )〕 He was a student at Trinity College, Cambridge, graduating BA in 1884. He made his first-class debut in 1883 for the MCC against Derbyshire.〔(First-class matches played by Philip Martineau ) at CricketArchive
Following a minor match against Northumberland in July of that year,〔(Other matches played by Philip Martineau ) at CricketArchive〕 he played his second and final first-class match against Somerset. Martineau became a solicitor. He was president of the Law Society in 1931-2 and was knighted in 1933.〔
